Flat MUS, Reporting In

Hi again. Flat MUS here.

I’ve been sitting in on the convening planning meetings for Northwest Indiana, and I’ll just say this. You’re going to want to be there!

If you missed me last month, you can catch my origin story here.

This year's convening, WorkforceWorks!! Northwest Indiana: The Urban Rural Connection will take place from June 2–4, 2026.

MUS convenings are boutique-curated events, intentionally designed to create space for connection, conversation, and shared experience, and this year continues that approach.

We’ll hop on a bus and travel across Northwest Indiana, spending time in Michigan City, Rensselaer, and Gary. Along the way, you’ll hear directly from local leaders, experience the communities and their workforce, and see how strategies take shape in real settings, with guided tours and presentations built into the experience.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, MUS values the support of our sponsors, who play an important role in shaping the convening experience.

More from Flat MUS…

You’ve heard us talk about WorkforceWorks!! for a while now. We’ve been saying it often and on purpose. Our members have been working together to bring that message into alignment.

Now it has a look to match.

WorkforceWorks!! is our national platform, led by Midwest Urban Strategies, that brings our membership together under a unified voice. It reflects the work of Workforce Development Boards (WDBs) and affiliate members across our network.

What started as a PR campaign has evolved into a national platform for unified messaging, shaped by our members who demonstrate effective workforce strategies every day.

WorkforceWorks!! was created in response to the Administration’s America’s Talent Strategy report. It reflects how that strategy shows up in practice through industry-driven approaches, worker mobility, coordinated systems, accountability, and innovation.

It is our way of lifting up the work of the public workforce system and educating policymakers on the role and impact of Workforce Development Boards.
