National Skills Coalition: Making Care Jobs Good Jobs

The care workforce is the foundation of our economy, supporting children, families, and older adults while fueling broader economic stability. The National Skills Coalition’s new brief, Making Care Jobs Good Jobs, calls on workforce, government, and industry leaders to recognize care work as essential to economic growth and as a vital public investment in the nation’s wellbeing.

The report offers clear, actionable steps for improving training, job quality, and career mobility in care occupations. It also highlights the power of sector partnerships and workforce boards in leading these changes. Midwest Urban Strategies Executive Director Tracey Carey served as a member of NSC’s Care Workforce Advisory Council, contributing her expertise to the recommendations outlined in the paper.

Tracey’s participation on the Care Workforce Advisory Council underscores Midwest Urban Strategies’ role as a national thought partner in advancing job quality and workforce innovation. Her contributions helped shape recommendations that connect the lived realities of local boards and care workers to the national conversation on equitable economic growth. Through this collaboration, MUS continues to translate national priorities into local progress, advancing job quality and opportunity across the care workforce.
