A new partnership will bring vocational training for people interested in the banking industry to Milwaukee.

California-based BankWork$ partnered with workforce development agency Employ Milwaukee to bring its curriculum to the city. BankWork$ runs a free, eight-week training program to prepare participants in underserved neighborhoods for retail banking careers.

The program now operates in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. BankWork$ partners with public and private entities to fund and administer the training program and connect participants with open, entry-level banking positions.

The class focuses on both soft and hard skills needed in the financial industry. Following graduation ceremonies, BankWork$ hosts a job fair for participants to help them gain employment.
