Detroit Employment Solution Corp’s Nicole Sherard-Freeman recognized among ‘Notable Women in Nonprofits’

Midwest Urban Strategies congratulates Nicole Sherard-Freeman, president and CEO of Detroit Employment Solutions Corp. (DESC), for being highlighted in Crain’s Detroit Business as one of the 2018 Notable Women in Nonprofits.

Since she was chosen among 300 national candidates in 2016 to be president and CEO of DESC, Sherard-Freeman has shown expertise in strategy, policy and leadership development. For two years she has been responsible for leading the strategy and operations of the City of Detroit’s workforce agency, the lead implementation partner for Detroit at Work and the home of Grow Detroit’s Young Talent employment initiative. She is known as an advocate and agent for the city’s poverty-reduction strategies.

Sherard-Freeman serves on the boards of Schoolcraft College Foundation and Detroit Economic Growth Corp., on the advisory board for the University of Michigan – Youth Policy Lab and is co-vice chair the Workforce Intelligence Network.
